We have invited Nukina sensei again this year to teach at our summercamp. Nukina sensei was twice ALL Japan student KUMITE Champion in ’94 ’95.
who is Nukina sensei?
After spending 20 years of Wado Karate training in Japan, Nukina sensei moved to Romania to spread Wado. He is living in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. Nukina sensei started karate at the age of 7 and is still actively training. Besides teaching in his dojo in Bucharest, Nukina sensei assists and conducts seminars of JKF WadoKai on European and worldwide events on a regular basis. His training was strict, traditional with logical explanations. He was a member of the national team of Japan and was trained by numerous of sensei, for example Matsuzaki sensei and Tsuyama sensei. Nukina sensei was twice ALL Japan student KUMITE Champion in ’94 ’95 when he still studied karate at Kinki University, Osaka, Japan.
shiai and jiyu kumite
Nukina sensei will teach the traditional karate as well as competition karate at the summercamp. Any karateka who’s focus is competing in tournaments can expect a very interesting week of training. Apart from the competition karate (shiai kumite), Ishikawa sensei will teach the original wado jiyu kumite. Ishikawa sensei shows how the principles from kata are used in effective forms of training, building up to jiyu kumite. Traditional karate techniques reach their right, like gedan mawashigeri, kingeri, sunegeri, mawashizuki and enpi. Off course throws and locks are part of training.
traditional karate
If you are interested in traditional karate technique, the summercamp is also an excellent place for training. Techniques that will be practised are: ido kihon, renrakuwaza, sanbon gumite, ohyo gumite, kihon gumite, kuzushi and nage waza, tanto dori, idori, goshin jutsu and kata. As N. Ishikawa sensei always propagated, excersises will be repeated over and over. “practise hard, then your muscle remember”.
Are you wondering what we are teaching at our camps? Watch the promotional video of the 2009 summercamp below!
It's already over 25 years since Shihan Ishikawa organised his
first summercamp, also known as Gasshuku. We continue his legacy.
"The meaning of Gasshuku is being together, living together,
eating and training together. You help someone in training, if he
or she can't go on or wants to give up, you pick him up and stimulate
each other to keep training. Because you live with each other for
a whole week intensively you learn a lot from each other, you train,
discuss and have fun; strangers at arrival become friends at departure.
