Junzuki is the study of thrusting movement. The term ‘jun’ comes from jujutsu. It means that if for example the right leg is in the front, the right arm is in the front too. The importance of junzuki, or in other words its principle and objective, is to focus on the ayumi ashi and the moment of energy transfer. It is a study of how to deliver your maximum energy potential using ayumi ashi progressing into a thrusting action. Use the whole body, not just the arm, or ‘just’ the rotation of the hip. Use your maximum potential of weight, speed, hip rotation and thus correct timing in all of these components at the same time. The essential point here is to transfer your energy while your body is still accelerating. Thrust through your opponent. The completion of the technique and the ‘stop’ is to isolate the moment of energy transfer, to be prepared - not to rush - for the next movement.
