Originally these techniques are from Shindo Yoshin Ryu Jujutsu. I doubt that anybody practises these forms as the originally where, actually I doubt they where the exact same when Ohtsuka sensei did it, simply because it is his wado and not his SYR.
From a historical perspective, idori was the first trained, before tachi ai. Nowadays this is reversed, however I believe Idori to be very good for practise. It disables the use of lowering the body thus moving to the sides becomes increasingly difficult and important.
te dori 手捕り
Position: Ai-hanmi. Ukemi 1:
- Body movement: step right foot forward
- Technique: ryote dori, take hold of the wrists Torimi 1:
- Body movement: step right foot forward or twist body open to the left (see video for variations)
- Technique: tehodoki, release the hold, free your hands.
- Technique: hiki oshi otoshi (pull the arm and push/pull the head down)
- Technique: shuto uchi
zu dori 頭捕り
Position: Ai-hanmi. Ukemi 1:
- Body movement: step right foot forward
- Technique: juji kubi shime Torimi 1:
- Body movement: open to the left
- Technique 1: ushiro hiki ude + uraken
- Technique 2: zudori
- Technique 3: uraken
gozen dori 御前捕り
Position: Yoko-mahanmi. Torimi 1:
- Technique: take hold of both hands of ukemi (possible enpi)
- Technique 2: rise on the left knee (some do the right) and pull ukemi out of balance
- Technique 3: take ukemi's left hand with two hands and stand up completely
- Technique 4: apply gyaku kote gaeshi and pull ukemi down
- Technique: keep the arm streched and apply more force on the wrist (see image)
ashi dori 足捕り
Position: Ai-hanmi. Ukemi 1:
- Body movement: ayumi ashi (forward)
- Technique: tsuki jodan (some use mawashi uraken uchi) Torimi 1:
- Body movement: open the body to the right to avoid receiving jodan zuki. (some enter and use inasu jodan zuki)
- Technique 1: strike with the left hand
- Technique 2: switch your legs, enter deeply to the left and sweep the right foot of the opponent while thrusting continuing with forceful push to the chest.
hiki dori 引き捕り
Position: Ai-hanmi. Ukemi 1:
- Body movement: ayumi ashi (forward)
- Technique: tsuki jodan Torimi 1:
- Body movement: open the body to the left
- Technique 1: jodan soto nagashi uke (like kihon gumite)
- Technique 2: chudan zuki
- Technique 3: tsukamite (stand up)
- Technique 4: maegeri
- Technique 5: pull the body of the opponent to the ground (hiki)
- Technique 6: apply pressure on the opponents elbow by sitting on the joint with your knee, pull his arm up to increase pain and break the arm.
- Technique 7: after breaking the arm, bend it to an angle and lean on his hand or wrist (I prefer hand), lean with all of your weight. The opponent is unlikely to be able to withdraw his arm, because it is broken.
shumoku dori 撞木捕り
Position: Yoko-mahanmi. Ukemi 1:
- Technique: yoko tettsui uchi jodan Torimi 1:
- Technique 1: shuto uchi
- Technique 2: tsukamite with the right hand and atemi with the left.
- Technique 3: hidari tsukamite this time, grab the collar of the opponent
- Technique 4: wrap the opponents right arm around your neck, start leaning forward with all of your weight, 'steer' ukemi with your body and both hands, meanwhile position your right foot against the opponents right thigh in order to throw him over counterclockwise with the right foot
- Technique 5: apply hiji gatame
hijite kansetsu
gyakutori nage 肘手関節逆投げ
Position: Ai-hanmi. Ukemi 1:
- Body movement: ayumi ashi (forward)
- Technique: tsuki jodan Torimi 1:
- Body movement: open the body to the left
- Technique 1: do a migi chudan zuki (target depending on position of ukemi's body due to height or angle) and at the same time hidari gyaku shuto nagashi uke
- Technique 2: stand up and do tsukamite, grabbing the palm of the hand with your right hand and controlling the elbow with your left
- Technique 3: maegeri, continuing to
- Technique 4: in a fluid movement, enter deeply in front across the opponent, controlling the elbow
- Technique 5: throw with kote nage
